Playing for Lahore Region Whites, Mohammad Abbas claimed his 50th five-wicket haul in first-class cricket.
Milestone for Mohammad Abbas
Abbas had taken seven wickets across his first two games in the 2025/26 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, against Abbottabad Region and Sialkot Region. He sent down 21 wicketless overs in his third game, with Karachi Blues making 424 in their fourth innings, in which captain Rameez Aziz made 102. For Lahore Whites, Ubaid Shah returned 4-102 and Haseeb-ur-Rehman 4-100.
The Lahore Whites response was led by Tayyab Tahir’s 108, while Ali Zaryab (91) and Umar Siddiq (86) missed out on hundreds as Mohammad Asghar claimed 4-93.
The match seemed headed for a draw when Karachi Blues were 97-1 just before stumps on the third day, but Abbas’ double strike reduced them to 103-3 before close of play. On the final morning, Abbas ran through their middle order with a triple-wicket blow to reduce them to 128-6.
The last of these wickets gave Abbas his 50th five-wicket haul in first-class cricket. Karachi Blues led by exactly 100 at this point, but Lahore Whites could not drive the advantage home: Saad Baig (149) and Usman Rahim (77) added 114 for the seventh wicket, virtually saving the game.
