Pakistan Test opener Imam-ul-Haq scored 181 for Multan in the first innings of their Quaid-e-Azam Trophy last-round match against Abbottabad.

Imam recently returned to the Pakistan Test set up following a two-year hiatus, and marked it with a 93 in his first innings, against South Africa. Though he couldn’t score big in the other three innings of the two-Test series, he found form again with 51 for Multan in their Quaid-e-Azam match against Islamabad earlier this month.

Following a dull outing against Sialkot, the left-handed batter found himself among the runs again, this time against Abbottabad. His well-made 181 came at a commendable strike-rate of 78 and was laced with 21 fours and a maximum.

Having lost his opening partner Waqar Hussain after a 32-run partnership, Imam joined hands with Imran Butt (40) to add 68 for the second wicket and then stitched together 193 with Sharoon Siraj (83). But he was dismissed by Mansoor Ali just before stumps on day one of the match for 181, only 19 short of his first-class top score of 202 not out. Multan finished the day at 360-5 in their first innings.

Multan and Abbottabad are both out of the race for the final, and currently hold the last two spots on the Quaid-e-Azam 2025/26 table, respectively.

Imam-ul-Haq had a prolific One Day Cup for Yorkshire

Imam-ul-Haq had a hugely impressive season with Yorkshire in the 2025 One-Day Cup. He was called up as an injury replacement for Ruturaj Gaikwad, and went on to score 688 runs in just eight innings at 98.28 to finish as the second-highest run-getter.

He signed off from the One-Day Cup with a century in the semi-final to take his tally to four hundreds and three fifties in the season. He was behind only Nick Gubbins on the run-scoring chart, trailing him by just 19 runs despite playing three innings fewer.

Upon his return home, Imam slammed a 291-ball 330 in the Hanif Mohammad Trophy, which isn’t considered a first-class tournament, and was rightly rewarded with a Test recall for the South Africa series.
