Uncapped Pakistan batter Azan Awais struck yet another hundred during Sialkot’s Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2025-26 fixture against Abbottabad Falcons.

Azan Awais scores eighth first-class century in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy

After batting first at the Diamond Club Ground in Islamabad, Sialkot finished the opening day on 322-4. Pakistan Test opener Abdullah Shafique made a patient 62 off 103 balls, but the batting effort was led by 21-year-old Awais, who scored a 194-ball 123, laced with 13 fours. The duo shared a 116-run second-wicket stand.

Mohsin Riaz (48 not out) and Afzal Manzoor (37 not out) will resume the innings on the second day for Sialkot. For Abbottabad, Shahnawaz Dahani picked up two wickets, while Israr Hussain and Ahmed Khan took one wicket each.

      That was Awais’ eighth first-class century in 20 first-class matches (34 innings); he also has seven fifties. It was also his second ton in as many games after a score of 134 against Islamabad in the previous round.

      Currently, he has 1,852 runs at an average of 59.74. His highest individual first-class score of 203 not out came against Peshawar in his debut Quaid-e-Azam Trophy season last year, where he finished as the competition's highest run-getter with 844 runs at 76.72, powering Sialkot to the title. He has also played seven List A matches, scoring 230 runs at an average of 32.85, including three fifties.

      What's Awais' record in Youth formats?

      Awais was part of Pakistan’s squad for the 2024 Under-19 World Cup, where they reached the semi-finals. He scored 147 runs at an average of 36.75 and a strike rate of 65.33, including two fifties. One of these was a fighting 52 off 91 balls against Australia U19 in the semi-final, albeit in a losing cause.

      His World Cup call-up came after a strong showing at the U19 level. In his debut Youth ODI series – a 4-1 win over Bangladesh in 2023 – he was the leading run-getter. He announced himself with scores of 69 not out and 105 in his first two innings. Awais then scored another 105 not out against India U19 in the subsequent Under-19 Asia Cup, finishing as the tournament's second-highest run-getter during his team's run to the semi-finals. His Youth ODI average stands at 60.11 from 13 matches.

      Awais has also played two Youth Tests, scoring 149 runs at 49.66, including a 104 against Sri Lanka U19 in 2023.
