The fifth round of the 2025/26 Ranji Trophy season began on November 16 - here's a round-up of all the action from day one.
Group A
In Jamshedpur, Jharkhand finished the day on 259-6, with opener Sharandeep Singh smashing a hundred. Odisha were in early trouble against Nagaland, slipping to 34-4 before Biplab Samantray and Anil Parida revived the innings and took them to 243-7. Samantray made 92, while Parida is nearing his maiden first-class ton.

Tamil Nadu also lost their top order quickly, slipping to 20 for 3 and then 71 for 4. Centuries from Baba Indrajith and Andre Siddarth lifted them to a comfortable 282 for 5. Baroda left-arm spinner Ninad Rathva’s five-for bowled out Vidarbha for 169.

Group B
Maharashtra made a solid start with Prithvi Shaw (74) and Arshin Kulkarni (133) stitching a strong opening stand. However, from 144-0 they collapsed, losing five wickets for 112 runs. Shaw, who switched to Maharashtra this season, has been in terrific form, hitting his third fifty-plus score in as many matches. Against Chandigarh, he had smashed a rapid double hundred.
Saurashtra laid a solid platform with half-centuries from Jay Gohil (60), Arpit Vasavada (81) and Prerak Mankad (88*). Against Madhya Pradesh, Kerala were once struggling at 105-6, but fifties from Baba Aparajith and Abhijith Praveen carried them to 246-7 at stumps.
Smaran Ravichandran struck an unbeaten 100, while Karun Nair made 95 to help Karnataka reach 298-5 against Chandigarh.

Group C
Haryana collapsed to 20-5 in reply to Services’ 205, thanks to Amit Shukla, who picked up a five-for while conceding just one run. Bengal had Assam teetering at 194-8. Railways are in a commanding position at 149 for 2 after bowling out Tripura for 136, with Kush Marate and Mohammad Saif hitting unbeaten fifties.
Gujarat reached stumps at 318 for 7 against Uttarakhand. Jaymeet Patel fell for 100, while opener Abhishek Desai missed his ton by just one run. Kshitij Patel is unbeaten on 59 off 121 balls.

- Tripura 136 (Vijay Shankar 44*, Raj Choudhary 4-30) vs Railways 149-2 (Kush Marate 73*, Manisankar Murasingh 1-24).
- Gujarat 318-7 (Jaymeet Patel 100, Mayank Mishra 3-54) vs Uttarakhand.
Group D
Against Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh reached stumps at 319-3, powered by a 260-ball 162 from opener Anuj Tiwary. At the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai also produced a strong batting display, with Musheer Khan setting the tone with 84. Akhil Herwadkar (86) and Siddhesh Lad (80*) added valuable contributions. Hundreds from Rajasthan’s Sachin Yadav and Kunal Singh Rathore took them to 263-4 against Delhi at stumps.
After being dismissed for 170, Auqib Nabi continued his fine form with a three-wicket haul to bring Jammu & Kashmir back into the game against Hyderabad, who reached stumps at 88-6.
