Services' Arjun Sharma and Mohit Jangra each took a hat-trick in the first innings of their Ranji Trophy match against Assam.
The first hat-trick of the innings came from left-arm spinner Arjun in the 12th over. He first dismissed Riyan Parag (36) off the third ball and then followed up with the wickets of Sumit Ghadigaonkar and Sibsankar Roy to complete the feat.
The second hat-trick was taken by left-arm seamer Jangra, with his three wickets spaced across two overs. He dismissed Pradyun Saikia for 52 off the last ball of the 15th over. He then returned to remove Mukhtar Hussain (1) and Bhargab Lahkar (0) with the first two balls of the 17th over to seal his hat-trick.
With Arjun (5-46) and Jangra (3-5) sharing eight wickets, Pulkit Narang (2-27) was the other wicket-taker. Assam were bowled out for 103 in 17.2 overs.
Arjun Sharma and Mohit Jangra take hat-tricks in same first-class innings
In first-class history, this is only the third time a single innings has featured two hat-tricks. The first was a 1907 County Championship innings when Albert Trott took two hat-tricks for Middlesex against Somerset. The next was in a Ranji Trophy innings in 1962 when Services' Joginder Singh Rao did the same against Northern Punjab.
That makes today's occurrence the first-ever instance of two different bowlers taking a hat-trick entirely in the same first-class innings. "Entirely" is important to note, since Clive Rice and Garth le Roux both completed hat-tricks for South Africa in the Australian XI's second innings in 1985/86, but Rice's first two wickets came in the first innings.

Assam fought back strongly despite their meagre first-innings total. At the helm of their fightback was Parag, who picked up his second first-class five-wicket haul, a career-best 5-25. He was supported by left-arm spinner Rahul Singh (4-44). The hosts would be happy to concede just a five-run first-innings lead after skittling out Services for 108. Further drama unfolded in Assam’s second innings when they found themselves at 6-3.
