Bangladesh have recalled T20I captain Litton Das to their ODI squad for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka.
Several veterans have returned to Bangladesh’s squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, beginning July 2. The most notable inclusion is perhaps wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das, who was dropped from Bangladesh’s Champions Trophy 2025 squad due to prolonged poor form.
Litton Das returns, no place for Soumya Sarkar
"Litton Das was in a bad patch, but time is the best healer. He is the T20 captain, so we can consider him till the next T20 World Cup," said Chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain."If someone has to return to form, it is best to spend a long time in the middle. We feel that Litton can take his form from ODIs to T20Is."
Also returning to the squad are fast bowler Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman, both having recovered from injuries. Apart from the two, three pacers – Nahid Rana, Hasan Mahmud and Tanzim Hasan Sakib – have also been included to ease Taskin and Mustafizur back from injuries, stated Gazi.

Opener Mohammad Naim has also made a comeback, having last played for Bangladesh in an ODI against Sri Lanka in Colombo back in 2023. Naim’s run-scoring spree in the domestic circuit led to his recall: he has crossed the 600-run mark in the Dhaka Premier League in the last three seasons in a row, including 618 runs at an average of 61.80 and a strike-rate of 121.89 recently. Middle-order batter Shamim Hossain and left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam have also returned after failing to get a spot in the Champions Trophy.
Soumya Sarkar and Nasum Ahmed, along with the retired duo of Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim, have been left out of the squad following Bangladesh’s disappointing 2025 Champions Trophy campaign.
