Pakistan and Sri Lanka shared the spoils in a three-match T20I series in the lead-up to the World Cup. Here’s how the T20I team rankings shape up after the SL vs PAK series.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka won a game each in the T20I series

The T20I series, which was played entirely in Dambulla, saw Pakistan win the first match by six wickets to take a 1-0 lead. Batting first, the hosts were bowled out for 128, with Salman Mirza and Abrar Ahmed picking up three wickets apiece, while Mohammad Wasim and Shadab Khan took two each.

Janith Liyanage top-scored for Sri Lanka with a 31-ball 40. No other batter could cross the 20-run mark even though six of them got into double digits. The 129-run target wasn’t big enough for Pakistan, who completed the chase in the 17th over. Sahibzada Farhan struck a 36-ball 51 at the top of the order, whereas Saim Ayub scored 24. Shadab Khan finished the proceedings with a 12-ball 18 to take home the player of the match award.

The second game of the series, however, was washed out, while the third was reduced to 12 overs per side due to rain. Batting first again, the hosts this time posted a hefty 160-run total in 12 overs, with all-round contributions. Captain Dasun Shanaka stood out with a nine-ball 34. In reply, Pakistan captain Salman Agha led the way for his side, but his record 12-ball 45 couldn’t take them through as they fell short by 14 runs in the end.
