Australia at the top of ICC rankings

The ICC annual women's ODI update has been released, with Australia maintaining their massive lead at the top of the table.

Women's annual ODI rankings: How does the weightage work?

Similar to the men's rankings, the women's rankings have been pushed up from October to May. The update given more priority to recent matches: for the period between May 2022 and April 2023, the weightage is 50 per cent, while it's a 100 per cent thereafter. Pre-update, the weightage was 50 per cent for matches between October 2021 and September 2023.

Essentially, matches played between October 2021 and April 2022, including the Women’s World Cup, have now been removed.

Rankings: Who's gained, who's lost?

India's recent success, including the tri-series win featuring Sri Lanka and South Africa, victories against Ireland, the West Indies, South Africa, and New Zealand, have all contributed to them narrowing the gap with second-placed England. The margin is down from 11 to six.

USA have dropped off the points table after losing their ODI status at the same time as UAE Women gained theirs.

The West Indies have suffered a 10-point drop, and are down from No.7 to No.9.
