
UAE will host Afghanistan and Pakistan for a T20I tri-series starting August 29. Here's the latest ICC men’s T20I team rankings before the tri-series.
The tri-series will begin with Afghanistan facing Pakistan in Sharjah on Friday. Five more matches will be held at the same venue before the final on September 7. Following a short turnaround, the Asia Cup will commence on September 9, which will also be hosted by the UAE.
Pakistan enter the series with a 2-1 win against the West Indies. Afghanistan last played in December, when they beat Zimbabwe 2-1. Meanwhile, the UAE last played in the format during the Pearl of Africa T20I series in July, which involved Kenya, Namibia A, Nigeria, Uganda, and Uganda A; they finished second on the points table.

India currently top the ICC Men's T20I rankings with a rating of 271. Since becoming the world champions last June, they have won the most matches (16) among all Full Members. They are followed by second-placed Australia, who have won 14 and currently have a rating of 266.
Pakistan and Afghanistan enter the tri-series ranked eighth and ninth, with ratings of 231 and 223, respectively. Meanwhile, hosts the UAE are the lowest-ranked side among the participants, with a rating of 180.
