Rohit, one of the most successful captains in the IPL, represented the Deccan Chargers in the first four editions of the competition before moving to Mumbai Indians during the mega-auction. It kick-started a successful and fruitful career for the right-hander, who has been associated with the franchise ever since.

Rohit was named the captain of Mumbai Indians midway through the 2013 edition and led the side to the title that year. He helped the team to four more titles, which makes them the joint-most successful franchise along with Chennai Super Kings.

He has scored 5,084 runs with Mumbai at an average of 29.38 and a strike rate of 129.85 with a hundred and 34 fifties.

Ahead of the 2024 season, Rohit was replaced by Hardik Pandya as the captain of Mumbai Indians. Rohit continues playing as a pure batter in the side and geared up for his 200th outing for the team with a small ceremony ahead of the game in Hyderabad.

After a few words from former Mumbai Indians icon Sachin Tendulkar in the team huddle, Rohit was presented with a special jersey for the occasion with the number 200 inscribed on the back. Rohit usually wears a jersey with the number 45.

Rohit is now only the third player to represent one IPL team in at least 200 games. Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni are the others in the list.
