Gujarat’s chance of qualifying for the playoffs hangs by a thread, as Friday’s encounter is a do-or-die game for them. They have won four out of 11 matches and are lying at the bottom of the points table. Meanwhile, Chennai, at fourth with six wins from 11 matches, are relatively well placed to secure a top-four berth. They would look to widen the gap with teams below them – Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat.
Gujarat have done a lot of chopping and changing, having used 22 players until now, the most by any team this season. Sai Sudharshan may come in as an Impact Player if they bowl first. Sai Kishore can play that role if they opt for batting.
