The 2025/26 Ashes series is set to begin this Friday (November 21). Who will win the series, and which players will star in the five Tests?

Who will win?

With the Ashes looming large on the horizon, our partners at Spreadex have a number of Series Specials available in their Ashes spread betting markets.

First up is the Supremacy spread which favours Australia and is available to trade at 7.5-10.5. In this market ten points is awarded to the winner, with 0 points awarded if the series is drawn. There are also five points awarded for each game won. So if it was a repeat of the 4-0 hammering doled out by the Aussies in 2021/22, the spread would settle at 30. However, if England were to win the urn Down Under by winning 3-1 like they did in 2010/11, the market would settle at -30.

As a worked example, if you had bought the Supremacy at 10.5 for £5 and Australia won the series 3-1, the market would settle at 20 and you would win £47.50 (£5 x 9.5). However, if you had sold at 7.5 for £5 you would have lost £62.50.

The action gets underway on Friday, and Australia are 4/6 to secure an opening Test victory in Perth, with England at 6/4 and the draw at 10/1.

Who will star with the bat?

The last time England won a series in Australia, they had a batter in sublime form as Alistair Cook had the time of his life, notching 766 runs and winning the player of the series. This time around, England have two Yorkshiremen who they will be looking to for inspiration; first, Joe Root who top scored for England in the last Ashes on Australian soil. Famously, he has never scored a century in Australia, but a couple of handy knocks would see him make mincemeat of his Series Runs Spread of 418-443 (322 in 2021/22 and 378 in 2017/18).

Root will be backed up by fellow Yorkshireman Harry Brook. A precocious talent, Brook has been promoted to vice-captain ahead of this series. You can buy or sell Harry Brook Series Runs at 385-405.

In addition to their wide range of spread betting markets, Spreadex have also boosted Ben Duckett from 9/2 to 24/5 to top score for the tourists in their fixed odds selections.

Which bowler will take the most wickets?

With question marks over the fitness of Pat Cummins, the unheralded Scott Boland may get to shine. With 18 wickets at an average of 9.55 including a stunning return of 6-7 at the MCG on his debut, Boland had England’s number the last time they ventured to these shores. His Bowler Performance spread (10 points per wicket, 25-point bonus for a five-wicket haul in an innings) can be bought or sold at 203-218.
