India Test wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel scored his first List A century on Monday (December 29).
Dhruv Jurel breaks Uttar Pradesh record with 160*
In the third round of this season's Vijay Hazare Trophy, Uttar Pradesh and Baroda faced off in Rajkot, Baroda captain Krunal Pandya winning the toss and electing to field.
Jurel came in at No.3 in the 15th over with the score at 77-1. That became 92-3 just over four overs later, and he was joined in the middle by fellow India international Rinku Singh.
Unfazed, the pair scored at a brisk pace. Jurel made his way to a half-century off 42 deliveries, and Rinku got to the mark off 53. He departed for 63 off 67, having put on 131 with Jurel at 6.55 runs an over.
Thereafter, the Test-capped keeper took over. He accelerated from 50 to 100 in 36 deliveries, hitting three fours and three sixes to go with the eight fours he had hit previously. This was his first List A century, and overtook his previous best of 80 in the format, scored just five days ago against Hyderabad.
Jurel was far from done, though. He tore into pacer Rasikh Salam in the back end of the innings, hitting him for six sixes and 55 runs off 14 balls overall. After reaching his century, another four fours and four sixes helped him get to 150 in just 19 deliveries. Rasikh went for 102 runs in 10 overs, the most ever conceded by a Baroda bowler in a List A innings.

Jurel stayed unbeaten, making it to 160 off 101 balls, hitting 15 fours and eight sixes in all. This is now the highest individual score for Uttar Pradesh in a List A match, overtaking Aryan Juyal's 159 against Maharashtra in 2022 and Madhav Kaushik's 158* against Mumbai in 2021. The team finished on 369-7, their third-highest in a List A game.
This knock continued a rich vein of form for Jurel in domestic cricket, having started the Vijay Hazare Trophy with scores of 80 and 67. Prior to a lean Test series against South Africa, he had made twin centuries for India A against South Africa in first-class cricket as well.
