India all-rounder Hardik Pandya hit his maiden List A century over 11 years since his debut in the format, smashing a 68-ball ton in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025/26.
Hardik Pandya hits 34 runs in one over
Amid reports that he will be rested for the upcoming ODI series, Hardik cracked a whirlwind century from No.7 for Baroda. It was a special effort considering the circumstances: Vidarbha had reduced Baroda to 71-5 when Hardik walked in. He first rebuilt the innings with brother (and captain) Krunal Pandya(23), putting together 65-run stand.
When Krunal fell in the 31st over, Hardik found support in Vishnu Solanki, and switched gears. The impact was felt most in the 39th over.
On 66 off 62 at that point, he smashed five sixes in a row against left-arm spinner Parth Rekhade, finishing the over with a four. That meant he raced from 66 to 100 in the space of six balls.
No other batter crossed 30, as Hardik's 133 off 92, with eight fours and 11 sixes, carried Baroda to 293-9.
Hardik made his List A debut in the 2014/15 Vijay Hazare Trophy under the captaincy of Yusuf Pathan. On debut, he smashed 69 off 61; in just over a year's time, he was fast-tracked to the T20I team. Later this month, he completes 10 years in international cricket.
Before this knock, Hardik's career-best List A score (92*) came in a 2020 ODI against Australia.
As his India career has flourished, Hardik's domestic appearances have reduced, but with BCCI's recent mandate, he has been finding time to play a cluster of games where possible. He played three games in the 2024/25 season as well, with the Vidarbha game being his first appearance this season.
Despite the stunning counter-attack, there was little rest for Hardik as he returned soon after to open the bowling for Baroda.
