All-rounder Cameron Green joined an exclusive club in the Caribbean yesterday (July 26), becoming the third Australia player to score three half-centuries in a T20I series.
The 26-year-old hit an unbeaten 55 in St Kitts and Nevis, guiding Australia to a win in the fourth of five T20Is in the series. Coming in at No.4 with his side chasing 206 to win, he struck three sixes and three fours, standing firm amid a middle and lower order collapse to seal victory by three wickets with four balls remaining.
The innings continued a good run of form for Green throughout the series. It was his third half-century in four innings, having hit back-to-back fifties in the first two games. His 51 in the opening match helped Australia over the line in another big chase, and an unbeaten 56 in the following match in combination with a blistering 78* from Josh Inglis took them to a 2-0 lead. Despite Green being out for 11 in the third T20I, a Tim David century ensured Australia sealed an unassailable series lead. The fifth and final T20I of the series will be played on Tuesday, July 29, with the tourists chasing a 5-0 clean sweep.
Green will also be looking to set a national record in that game, having already joined an exclusive club of three. His innings in the second match made him the third Australia player to make three 50-plus scores in the same men's T20I series. He joined David Warner and Mitchell Marsh as the only other Australia players to do so.
