Anderson Phillip takes a diving catch in the third Test against Australia

Watch: West Indies seamer Anderson Phillip took a full-length diving catch to dismiss Travis Head on day one (July 12) of the third Test against Australia at Kingston.

The spectacular catch happened off the last ball of the 65th over in Australia’s first innings. Head, batting on 20, tried to hit a length ball from Justin Greaves over extra cover. Phillip, who had come in as a substitute fielder, sprinted to his right from mid-off, launched himself into the air at full stretch, and intercepted the ball with both hands, rolling upon landing. He immediately got up and celebrated, with teammates rushing to congratulate him.

"Great effort, great catch! Anderson Phillip – and it had to be a fast bowler to do it. Great athleticism," an ecstatic Ian Bishop said on commentary. "Look at the time he spent in the air!" pointed out his fellow commentator.

Australia slipped to 189-6 after the wicket and could only add another 36 runs before being bowled out. Shamar Joseph starred again for West Indies, taking 4-33, while Jayden Seales and Greaves picked up three wickets each.

West Indies dropped their veteran opener, Kraigg Brathwaite, for the first time in 11 years. Kevlon Anderson, making his debut at the top of the order, didn’t have a memorable outing, falling for just three. Australia, having already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series, also made a change, opting for Scott Boland instead of Nathan Lyon. The hosts went to stumps at 16-1.
