WI vs NZ 2026 ODIs: Team News

West Indies have only announced their squad for the first three ODIs. 19-year-old left-arm wristspinner Vitel Lawes is a surprise pick as the youngster is yet to play any professional game. However, he played for the West Indies at the U19 World Cup earlier this year and was also their highest wicket-taker, picking up 10 wickets in five matches.

The home team will miss Shimron Hetmyer, who has been allowed to continue his stint in Major League Cricket with Seattle Orcas. All-rounder Shamar Springer also withdrew from the series following the passing of his mother. Keemo Paul replaces him.

New Zealand welcome back their captain, Mitchell Santner, who missed the previous series against Bangladesh due to IPL commitments. The likes of Daryl Mitchell, Mark Chapman, Michael Bracewell and Jacob Duffy have also returned to the ODI squad.

Muhammad Abbas, Adi Ashok, Josh Clarkson, Dane Cleaver, Will O'Rourke and Blair Tickner have been dropped from the squad that toured Bangladesh in April. Meanwhile, Ben Sears has also been ruled out of the series due to an ankle injury. Ben Lister has replaced him in the squad.
