The field is covered during a rain delay in the 1st T20i match between West Indies and South Africa at Brian Lara Cricket Academy Stadium in Tarouba, San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago, on August 23, 2024

The second ODI of the three-match series between West Indies and Pakistan will be played at Brian Lara International Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad, on Sunday (August 10). However, rain could play spoilsport.

With the two teams playing an ODI for the first time since June 2022, Pakistan maintained their dominance by clinching a five-wicket victory in the series opener on Friday.

After batting first, West Indies were bowled out for 280 in 49 overs, despite half-centuries from Evin Lewis (60), captain Shai Hope (55), and Roston Chase (53). Pakistan’s pace duo of Shaheen Afridi (4-51) and Naseem Shah (3-55) spearheaded the attack, with Afridi achieving a milestone – his 131 ODI wickets are now the most by any bowler after their first 65 ODIs.

The chase could have been trickier for Pakistan as they lost their fifth wicket with 101 runs still needed. However, debutant Hasan Nawaz (63 not out off 54) smashed an unbeaten half-century from No.6 to guide them home comfortably with 1.5 overs to spare.

With Pakistan leading the series 1-0, West Indies must win today to keep the chances of a series win alive – but rain threatens to spoil their comeback hopes.
