The West Indies beat Pakistan by 90 runs in the first Test of the two-match home series to inch closer to England.
West Indies go 1-0 up in two-Test series
The West Indies had secured a 31-run first-innings lead at Tarouba after Justin Greaves (5-27) became the first bowler to take five consecutive wicket-maidens in the first innings. Mohammad Abbas (5-22), however, had hit back, reducing the hosts to 126-7 at stumps on day three.
Let by some enterprising batting from Shamar Joseph (38 in 27 balls), the West Indies tail stretched their total to 181. Chasing 211, Pakistan became 71-9 before Babar Azam (58 not out) and Abbas (23) put on 49 for the final wicket. Jayden Seales (5-20) ended that partnership, while Greaves picked up 2-12 to be named as the Player of the Match.

The West Indies remained at eighth place, but with a PCT of 22.73, they are now very close to England (seventh with 24.36). A win in the second Test will help them leapfrog England. Last-placed Pakistan, meanwhile, took a further hit in PCT: they finished the Test with 6.67.
