Australia have named their squad for the World Test Championship 2023-2025 final against South Africa, to be played at Lord’s from June 11.
After missing the Sri Lanka tour earlier this year, Pat Cummins will return to lead defending champions Australia at the 2023-2025 World Test Championship final.
Josh Hazlewood, who had also missed the tour as well as three Test matches in the 2024/25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, also returned to the squad. An injury had kept Hazlewood out of the playing XI when Australia beat India in the final of the 2021-2023 edition, at The Oval.
Cameron Green returns to Australia squad for WTC final
A fit Cameron Green is another notable inclusion. He has not played a Test match since the New Zealand tour of March 2024. On that tour, Green had hit his highest Test score of 174 not out at Wellington.
Sam Konstas had stunned with a 65-ball 60 while opening batting on debut in the Boxing Day Test match against India. He then made 23 and 22 at Sydney, but did not get a break in Sri Lanka. The selectors, however, have included Konstas in the squad for the final.
Matthew Kuhnemann, whose bowling action was reported by the umpires during the Sri Lanka tour and subsequently cleared by the ICC, makes it as the second spinner, as does all-rounder Beau Webster.
Brendan Doggett, the uncapped South Australian fast bowler, is playing for Durham this summer. He is a travelling reserve in the squad, which boasts of four out-and-out fast bowlers, in Cummins, Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, and Scott Boland.
