Sixteen-year-old Deeya Yadav followed up a maiden Women's Premier League contact with a solid performance in the Indian domestic U23 competition.
Deeya Yadav continues to shine in domestic cricket
Deeya Yadav was one of the uncapped players to watch out for ahead of the WPL auction held late last month. The Delhi Capitals acquired her for INR 10 Lakh, becoming the second-youngest player (after Shabnam Shakil) to get a WPL gig. At the Capitals, she is to play alongside her Haryana teammate Shafali Verma. The comparisons with Shafali have been made ever since Deeya first drew attention to her fast-paced strokeplay, smashing 213 off 125 balls against Tripura in the 2023 U15 One-Day Cup.
Since then, Deeya has continued her ascent. At the Senior Women's T20 Trophy this year, she was only behind Shafali Verma for Haryana in the run-scorers list, hitting 298 runs at 59.60, and striking at 128. In the Senior Women's Interzonal T20 Trophy too, she starred with 151 runs from five innings, at an average of 30.20 and strike-rate of 149.50.
At the U23 T20 Trophy that followed, Deeya was in top form again. She finished with 255 runs from nine innings, averaging 28.33 and striking at 139. Only four others scored more runs than her.
In the final, she hit 33 off 16 while opening in a chase of 155, powering Haryana to the title over Delhi.

Deeya is said to have attended trials for Royal Challengers Bengaluru and UP Warriorz, but it was the Capitals who gave her her first WPL contract. She will now be seen in action at WPL 2026, which begins in less than a month's time.
