In an entertaining Twitter Q&A, former Pakistan captain Mohammad Yousuf revealed he thinks Sarfaraz Ahmed could make a return to the national side.

The wicketkeeper was axed from the captaincy and the Pakistan side by head coach and selector Misbah-ul-Haq in October 2019 and hasn’t played an international game since.

Sarfaraz enjoyed success when leading the side, taking his team to a memorable triumph in the 2017 Champions Trophy final, but has struggled for form since, and with Pakistan’s results taking a downturn, found himself on the outer.

 There have been calls for the 32-year-old to return to the side, but these have so far gone unheeded. When asked for his opinion on Sarfaraz, Yousuf simply answered, “he can come back”.

Among other opinions offered by the legendary Pakistan batsman were who he thinks can break Brian Lara’s record for the highest individual Test score (no one), who the best white-ball captain in the world is (Kane Williamson), and who the four best batsmen in the world currently are (Babar Azam, Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, and Williamson).

He also suggested he would be willing to work with the Pakistan team as a batting coach, and offered the following assessment of Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi.
