Bangladesh sweep T20I series 3-0 vs Afghanistan

Bangladesh clean-swept the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in Sharjah. Batting first on all three occasions, Afghanistan posted scores in a neat arithmetic progression – 151, 147, 143. Bangladesh chased down the totals on all three occasions.

In the first game, Tanzid Hasan Tamim (51 in 37 balls) and Parvez Hossain Emon (54 in 37) added 109 for the first wicket in 70 balls before Rashid Khan (4-18) ran through the middle order. However, Bangladesh completed the chase with four wickets and eight balls in hand.

Bangladesh lost both openers early in the second match to Azmatullah Omarzai (4-23), who returned in the end to strike twice more. Bangladesh needed 19 in 13 balls with two wickets in hand, but Nurul Hasan and Shoriful Islam hit out to see them home in the final over.

Saif Hasan (64 not out in 38 balls) shepherded the chase in the “dead rubber” game as Bangladesh won comfortably in the end, by six wickets and in 18 overs. Mujeeb Ur Rahman’s (2-26) double strike brought the Afghans back in the game, but with 35 to win in 36 balls, Saif had no qualms in playing out Rashid’s (4-1-13-0) final over for a maiden before completing the chase with a flurry of sixes.
