India were originally slated to host the T20 World Cup after the venues for the 2021 and 2022 editions were swapped.
However, owing to the pandemic prevailing in the country, it was decided that the T20 World Cup would be shifted to UAE and Oman. There have been changes to the format of the T20 World Cup in this edition.
India, who reached the semi-finals in the last edition in 2016, is placed in Group 2 in the competition. They will match up against Pakistan, Afghanistan, New Zealand and two qualifying teams. These two teams will qualify from Groups A and B respectively. Two teams from India’s group will qualify for the semi-finals.
They will match up against the top two teams from Group 1.
India’s schedule is well-paced and gives them a break after the IPL, which ends with the final on October 14. Their five matches are listed to take place across 16 days.

31 October, 2021 – Dubai – India v New Zealand, 7.30 pm
03 November, 2021 – Abu Dhabi – India v Afghanistan, 7.30 pm
05 November, 2021 – Dubai – India v B1, 7.30 pm
08 November, 2021 – Dubai – India v A2, 7.30 pm
The semi-finals will be held on November 10 and 11. The final will be held on November 14.
