16-year-old Deeya Yadav went past the likes of Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues with a second limited-overs double ton.

Deeya Yadav registers second double century against Tripura

The teenage batter scored 206 off 147 for Haryana against Tripura in their Under-23 One-Day Trophy game in Puducherry. Her knock featured 22 fours and seven maximums, while 76 of her runs came through singles and doubles.

Opening the batting, Yadav took the attack to the Tripura bowlers, and received able support from Tanishka Sharma, who, after falling three short of a fifty in the season’s opening game against Jharkhand, went on to score 79 off 106. Yadav was the aggressor, scoring 97 from 78 in the 181-run opening stand.

Sharma’s departure didn’t slow down the 16-year-old, who completed her ton shortly after, scoring another 98 during a 160-run stand with Sonia Mendhiya. However, as the latter fell on the last delivery of the penultimate over, Yadav was still five short of a double hundred.

Jyoti Yadav, batting at No.4, was run out trying to hand the strike to the opener, who was then batting at 196. With four balls left in the innings, the teenage batter scored 10 more runs to move past the 200-mark and also help the team finish at 356-3.

This is Deeya Yadav’s second double ton in limited-overs cricket. She had scored a 125-ball 213 in an Under-15 One-Day Trophy game against Tripura in November 2023.

On the back of her strong domestic showings, especially at the Senior Women's T20 Trophy, the top-order batter was signed by Delhi Capitals at her base price of INR 10 lakh at the WPL 2026 auction. She became the youngest player to feature in a WPL game when she made her tournament debut against the Mumbai Indians earlier this year.

The recent knock also took Yadav past Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues, who each have a double ton each in domestic limited-overs cricket. While Mandhana had scored 224 off 150 for Maharashtra against Gujarat during the West Zone women’s under-19 one-day tournament in 2013, Rodrigues did the same for Mumbai in an Inter-State women's under-19 one-day tournament against Saurashtra in 2017.

Shweta Sehrawat (242 for Delhi vs Nagaland) and Neelam Bharadwaj (202* for Uttarakhand) are the two Indians to do this at senior level. Nikita Chauhan (213* for Himachal U23 vs J&K U23) is the only other one to do so at U23 level or above.
