Australia 2024 U19 World Cup winner Harjas Singh slammed an incredible triple hundred in Sydney first-grade cricket on Saturday (October 4).
Harjas Singh slams 34 sixes en route to 50-over triple century
The second round of New South Wales Premier Cricket – Sydney first-grade cricket – kicked off on Saturday, and saw Western Suburbs face off against Sydney at Pratten Park.
Batting first, Western Suburbs got off to a solid start as openers Nicholas Cutler and Joshua Clarke put on 70. Cutler's dismissal for 36 in the 10th over brought No.3 Harjas Singh to the crease.
Singh took five balls to get off the mark, but the sixth saw him deposit Joe Davies over the midwicket fence. That was only a sign of things to come. He began to find the boundary with regularity, and in the 18th over took 14 runs off Hunter Hall. He got to a half-century off 33 balls, in the 20th over of the innings.

He then slowed down somewhat, taking another 41 deliveries to get to the three-figure mark. But he took off from there. In the next two overs, he took Davies and Hall to the cleaners, with five sixes and a four. Thomas Mullen then felt the brunt of Singh's blade, with five sixes in the 37th over.
Singh brought up a brutal double century off 103 balls – the second hundred came in 29 deliveries. But he wasn't finished yet. In the last ten overs, he continued to take down the bowling. He entered the final over on 283 off 129 balls, and hit the first three balls for six to get to 301, off 132.
He was eventually caught in the final over of the innings, for 314 off 141 balls, with 34 sixes and 12 fours – a total of 252 runs in boundaries alone. This match does not have List A status, but for context, the highest score in the format is N Jagadeesan's 277 for Tamil Nadu against Arunachal Pradesh in 2022.
Singh emulates Trumper, Phil Jaques with triple ton
Singh was part of the Australia team that won the U19 World Cup last year. Despite a lean tournament overall, he top-scored with 55 in the final as they defeated India.
According to New South Wales record-keepers, Singh's score is the third-highest in NSW premier cricket. Harry Donnan made 308 for South Sydney in 1896/97, while Phil Jaques scored 321 for Sutherland against North Sydney in 2006/07.
The record remains with Australia great Victor Trumper, who made 335 for Paddington against Redfern in 1902/03. Trumper hit 39 fours in his 180-minute knock, and hit the ball over the boundary on 22 occasions. But at the time, those were only awarded five runs, not six – meaning by modern measurements his score would be 357.
