Only 18, Rocky Flintoff is one of the most exciting prospects coming up the ranks in England cricket, and has time and again showcased his brilliance with the bat.
Rocky, the son of former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff, has put together a string of impressive performances against South Africa U19 in their ongoing series. Flintoff, who is currently 18, scored 63 in the first innings of the first Youth Test in Beckenham.
The youngster came into the two-match Youth Test series with two fifties to his name in the recently concluded Youth ODIs against the same opposition. After a 38-ball 29 in the first Youth ODI, he hit a fifty in each of the subsequent games to end the series on a high. England U19 clinched the three-match Youth ODI series 2-1.
Chasing a competitive 228 in the second Youth ODI at Northampton, England were 37-2 inside 10 overs. However, Flintoff, in at four, stitched an unbeaten 191-run stand with opener Ben Dawkins, who scored a 114-ball 118 not out. At the other end, Flintoff found his way towards a composed 79*, taking his team home comfortably.
In the series decider, it again came down to Flintoff, who steadyied the ship and played a crucial role. Having lost three early wickets, he added 105 with Caleb Falconer, registering 55 in 76 balls. England got to a healthy 271, and were able to restrict South Africa to 195.
Rocky Flintoff scores fourth fifty in five games
In addition to his third consecutive fifty, Flintoff has also registered his fourth half-century score in five matches across formats. In the Second XI championship last month, he scored 94 in the first innings to help Lancashire 2nd XI reach 224. None of the others could go past the fifty-run mark.
In the Youth ODI series against India in 2025, Flintoff scored a fifty and a hundred in the five-match ODI series, the highlight being a valiant 91-ball 107. To add to that, he continued the stellar form into the unofficial Tests, scoring 93 in the first innings of the first Test.
He had burst onto the scene with his 126 against Cricket Australia XI in 2025 as a part of the England Lions squad. Unlike a few teenagers who rely on power, Rocky Flintoff is known for his sturdy technique and the ability to play for long durations.
