Liam Livingstone notched up his third consecutive fifty in the T20 Blast during Lancashire's win over Leicestershire on Friday, June 26.
Livingstone, who has not played for England since February 2025, helped Lancashire chase down the 157-run target with a brilliant 74 off just 43 deliveries, which included two fours and seven sixes from number three. This was his third consecutive fifty in the competition after an 85* and 81 in the previous two games. He has also hit a combined 23 sixes during this three-game run, compared to seven fours.
Livingstone has also been effective with the ball. He returned figures of 2-34 against Leicestershire to take his tally to eight wickets in five matches, with an average of 17.37 and an economy of 8.17, for the season. He is currently the second-highest wicket-taker for Lancashire after Tom Hartley.
He also moved to fifth on the list of the top run-scorers this season after his latest exploit, with 299 runs at a splendid strike-rate of 196.71. No batter has scored more runs this season at a better strike-rate than Livingstone.
The England all-rounder had marked his return to first-class cricket earlier this season in the County Championship by taking a five-wicket haul against Kent.
Liam Livingstone hit out at England team management earlier this year
Livingstone had slammed the England team management, including director of cricket Rob Key and head coach Brendon McCullum, during an interview with ESPNCricinfo in March. He was scathing in his criticism of the team atmoshpere under McCullum. “I didn't miss it one bit," he said. "There wasn't any part of me that was wishing I was playing in that team, to be honest."
He also recalled receiving just one phone call from the head coach to inform him that he had been dropped from England's white-ball sides. "I don't think it [the call] would have reached a minute," said Livingstone. "I asked why; they said they wanted to try someone else. That was off Baz [Brendon McCullum]. Wrighty [Luke Wright – then England selector] didn't reach out, and Brooky [Harry Brook] sent me a text."
“That probably sums that group up as a collective," he added. "Keysy said nothing - [he] said I'll speak to you in the summer. I actually rang him one day, and he said he was busy at a Test camp at Loughborough. And then I didn't hear off him until the end of September. That was a bit of an eye-opening experience about the group and the regime: if you're in, you're in, and if you're not in, no-one cares about you. That put my mind at ease that my cricket was going to be more enjoyable going forward."
