Jacobs began to accelerate, finding the boundary with regularity. He got to a half-century off 33 balls in the 15th over, and in the following over carted Ish Sodhi for two sixes. Cameron Paul and Fraser Sheat then also copped some punishment as Jacobs made his way to an unbeaten 88 off 45 balls, two short of his career-best T20 score of 90*. Fletcher was 80 not out, and their 171-run stand is the joint-third highest for the fifth wicket or lower in men's T20 cricket. Auckland eventually fell short by 17 runs.

Today's knock continued an excellent run of form for Jacobs, who made 55, 54 and 53 against Northern Districts, Wellington and Otago in his first three Super Smash games of this season. Prior to the start of the campaign, he had two fifties in 23 T20 innings.

Jacobs was signed by the Mumbai Indians before his international debut ahead of IPL 2025 but did not play in the IPL. He was released by the franchise for the upcoming season. He has played four T20Is so far, and will be travelling with the Black Caps to India for a five-T20I series ahead of February's World Cup. Jacobs is not part of New Zealand's squad for the tournament, though.
