Subiaco-Floreat A posted a mammoth opening stand of 484 in a 50-over Western Australian Premier Cricket encounter against Perth A today (February 22).
The WA Premier League is the highest level of club cricket in Western Australia, featuring 16 clubs, including 10 male and four female competitions. On Sunday, Subiaco Floreat A, the senior female side, were sent in to bat first at the Fletcher Park by Perth A. The decision backfired spectacularly, as Perth A kept waiting for a moment to celebrate throughout the 50 overs of the innings.
Maddy Darke and Mikayla Hinkley almost break highest partnership record
Maddy Darke and Mikayla Hinkley, both of whom have a Women’s Big Bash League batting average of 13, were unstoppable, as both brought up their respective double hundreds. The second-highest partnership in a women's game before Sunday was 479, shared between Dawn Rae and Jan Molyneux, for Olympic Women against Melbourne in the Victoria Women’s Cricket Association Pennant Grade, in 1975.
Both Darke and Hinkley are also in fine form in the ongoing Women’s National Cricket League. Hinkley has made 301 runs from nine innings, along with four fifties, while Darke has 344 at an average of 43, with three half-centuries.
