The first round of group matches at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 Qualifier in Nepal was played on Sunday (January 18). Here are the updated points tables of both groups.
The qualifying tournament for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 kicked off on January 18, with eight teams across the two groups beginning their campaigns. The 10 participants are vying for four spots at the biennial tournament, scheduled to be played in England and Wales from June 13 to July 5, 2026.
Hosts Nepal began their campaign against Thailand at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur in a Group B encounter. Batting first, opener Bindu Rawal top-scored for them with a 56-ball 44 as they were bowled out for 122. Natthakan Chantham then hit a half-century for Thailand to help them win by eight wickets.
USA and Bangladesh, both in Group A, faced off in the other morning match, played at the Mulpani International Cricket Ground. Sharmin Akhter hit a quickfire 63 off 39 as Bangladesh posted 159 in 20 overs. The USA, in reply, could only get to 137-9 to lose by 22 runs.
Ireland and Papua New Guinea crossed swords in the second Group A game of the day in Mulpani. Orla Prendergast hit a fifty to take the Irish side to a respectable 144 before a combined bowling effort stopped PNG at 105-6.
Netherlands, meanwhile, beat Zimbabwe in a Group B game in Kirtipur. Batting first, the Dutch side were pegged back by a five-for from Christabel Chatonzwa to be bowled out for 122. But Zimbabwe couldn’t get going in the chase, losing by 22 runs in the end.

The top three teams from both groups will qualify for the Super Six stage, where each team will face the other once. Then, after five matches each, teams occupying the top four spots will qualify for the T20 World Cup.
