Vaibhav Suryavanshi hits third sub-65 ball hundred

Suryavanshi blazed away in characteristic fashion after South Africa U19 captain Muhammad Bulbulia won the toss and opted to field at the Willowmoore Park. He hit a six off the seventh ball he faced and another off the ninth.

In the seventh over, he launched into Michael Kruiskamp, taking him for four, six, four, six off consecutive balls. In the next over, he hit Corne Botha for four to reach his fifty, off a mere 24 balls. He “slowed down” thereafter before hitting Paul James for four sixes in six balls across two overs.

In the 22nd over, he ran a single off JJ Basson to bring up his third hundred in Youth ODIs. These are also the second-, third-, and joint-fourth-fastest hundreds in the format. He lost the top spot to Sameer Minhas yesterday.

Suryavanshi eventually fell for a 74-ball 127 with nine fours and 10 sixes. His opening partner Aaron George got 118 in 106 balls with 16 fours. India U19 finished at 393-7 from 50 overs.
