Against Zimbabwe in Harare, Sameer Minhas smashed the fastest hundred in the history of Youth ODIs.
Sameer Minhas breaks Vaibhav Suryavanshi's world record
At the Old Hararians Club, Pakistan U19 bowled out Zimbabwe U19 for a mere 158 in 44.4 overs in the final of the Zimbabwe U19 Tri-Series after Farhan Yousaf won the toss and opted to field.
Umar Zaib (4-20) took the first four wickets to fall. Zimbabwe, 15-5 at one point, recovered to 158 largely due to the efforts of Michael Blignaut (60) and Tatenda Chimugoro (28 not out).
Pakistan completed the chase in only 16.2 overs. Opening the batting, Minhas (the brother of Pakistan international Arafat) raced to a hundred in only 42 balls: this is now the fastest century in the history of Youth ODIs. He comfortably cleared Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s record of 52 balls, set against England at Worcester in 2025.
Suryavanshi also hit the only other hundred in fewer than 60 balls. Minhas, on the other hand, hit a 71-ball hundred (joint seventh on the all-time list) against India in the U19 Asia Cup final on December 21 and a 77-ball hundred (11th) earlier in this tournament, against Zimbabwe on December 29.
Minhas eventually fell for a 51-ball 114 with 17 fours and five sixes. The first-wicket stand with Mohammad Shayan (38 not out) yielded 145 in 14.2 overs. They did not lose another wicket.
