Eng v Ind

India won the third mixed disability T20I of the seven-match series against England, at Lord’s.

India beat England with two wickets and five balls in hand in the third T20I, at Lord’s. England posted 123-9 after winning the toss and opting to bat. Angus Brown, their No.5, got 77 of these runs off only 47 balls: he hit five fours and five sixes to lift his team from 49-7.

Among his teammates, only captain Callum Flynn (14) reached double figures. For India, Vivek Kumar returned 3-16 and Ravindra Sante 3-8.

Rajesh Irappa Kannur (29 in 26 balls, six fours) and Sai Akash (44 in 34 balls, four fours, two sixes) then led India’s response. Despite Liam O’Brien’s (2-28) strikes, India seemed on track at 121-5 in the 18th over. Then O’Brien snared Akash.

With the scores level, Brown then came to bowl his first over (the 19th over the innings). He removed Narendra Mangore and Vivek with consecutive balls, but Rishabh Jain kept out the hat-trick ball. “The hat-trick ball was just sliding down, unfortunately, but we felt right in the game at that point which I think says a lot about our spirit and our unity,” said Brown.

Jain played out the over. Yogendra Singh then hit the winning run off Farooq Mohammad’s first ball.

England had won the first two T20Is, by 65 runs at Taunton and by 60 runs at Wormsley. The win helped India restrict the hosts’ lead to 2-1.

The remaining games will be played at Worcester (June 27 and June 29) and Bristol (July 1 and 3).
