Prince Yadav became the latest India player to suffer an injury, walking off midway through an over after clutching his left hamstring during the second T20I against Zimbabwe in Harare on Saturday.

Yadav joins a long list of India players to have dealt with fitness issues in recent months. The spate of injuries has also prompted ODI and Test captain Shubman Gill to call for improvements in the team's fitness standards.

Hardik Pandya: back spasms and quadriceps strain

Pandya missed four of Mumbai Indians’ 14 matches during IPL 2026 after suffering back spasms. He later picked up a quadriceps strain while building up his bowling workload, ruling him out of India’s three-match ODI series against Afghanistan in June. He currently remains on the sidelines.

Nitish Kumar Reddy: left quadriceps injury

Reddy aggravated a left quadriceps injury during the third ODI against Afghanistan in Chennai. The injury involved swelling and fibre disruption, keeping him out of India's tours of Ireland and England.

The setback came after he reportedly increased his bowling speed from the mid-120s kph to the mid-to-upper-130s following biomechanical adjustments made with high-performance coach Steffan Jones.

Washington Sundar: right hamstring injury

Sundar injured his right thigh while taking a run during the second ODI against England. He was dismissed off the next delivery and did not field during England's chase.

The injury ruled him out of the third and deciding ODI at Lord’s, with Harsh Dubey replacing him. Sundar had earlier missed matches after suffering a left lower-rib side strain during the first ODI against New Zealand in Vadodara in January.

Harshit Rana: right hamstring injury and knee injury

Rana sustained a Grade 1 strain to his right biceps femoris during the T20I series against England, having bowled just 14 overs on his international comeback. He consequently missed the ODI series.

The injury came weeks after he returned from a four-month layoff following a right knee ligament injury suffered during India’s T20 World Cup warm-up match against South Africa. That earlier setback also ruled him out of the IPL season.

Varun revealed after a match against Rajasthan Royals in April that he had been playing with two fractures in his left hand since the start of the IPL season and the preceding T20 World Cup. On May 3, he suffered a hairline fracture in his left toe after being struck by a straight drive from Ishan Kishan.

Varun missed India's T20I series against Ireland before returning for the tour of England. He then sustained a Grade 2 left hamstring injury during the third T20I at Trent Bridge, ruling him out of the remainder of the series and subsequent fixtures.

Akash Deep: lower-back stress reaction

Akash missed the entire IPL 2026 after suffering a recurrence of a lower-back stress reaction. He was initially expected to be sidelined for eight to 12 weeks before undergoing a three-month recovery programme in Bengaluru.

Prince Yadav: left hamstring injury

Prince sustained a left hamstring injury during the second T20I against Zimbabwe in Harare on July 25. He had taken a wicket with the second ball of the seventh over before pulling up while beginning his run-up for the third delivery.

He received treatment from the India physio but could not continue, with Shivam Dube completing the over. The extent of the injury and his recovery timeline have not yet been confirmed.
