Australia U19 WC-winning captain sets the tone with big hundred

Sunbury CC, lead by Rajan Soni, were put into bat by Dulwich after losing the toss. Soni and his opening partner Hugh Weigben, who led Australia to the Under-19 World Cup title last year, put on a massive 157 runs for the first wicket. Soni fell for 88 off 55 balls, but the highly-rated Weigben kept the onslaught going from the other end.

No.3, 4, and 5 all played cameos between 25 and 35 as Sunbury finished on 423-7 from 50 overs. Weigben made 180 off 117 balls, hitting 20 fours and eight sixes. He was eventually caught behind by Bharat off the bowling of Kaif Ramzan.

KS Bharat's Dulwich CC lose the plot

Dulwich CC never got started in their run-chase. Opener Harrison Perry was out for two off 16 balls, before Bharat, batting at No.3, was dismissed for nine off seven by Kevin Smith.

Dulwich slipped from 20-2 to 41-7 as none of the top six reached double digits. Josh Allan (26 off 43) and Ben Ladd Gibbon (13 off 14) added 18 runs for the eighth wicket - the highest partnership of the innings - as Dulwich folded for 81 in 27.2 overs, losing the match by a whopping 342 runs.

Following the result, Dulwich are seventh in the points table with 46 points from four games, while Sunbury are fourth with 50 points from as many games.
