Bangladesh beat New Zealand 2-1 in the three-match ODI series - here’s how the men’s ODI team rankings look after the result.
The hosts batted first in the third ODI at Chattogram, posting 265-8 in their 50 overs. Najmul Hossain Shanto scored a fine hundred in 119 balls, while skipper Litton Das contributed with a 91-ball 76, rescuing Bangladesh from 32-3. Mustafizur Rahman was the star with the ball, picking up five wickets as New Zealand were all out for 210, giving Bangladesh a 55-run victory and helping them clinch the series.
New Zealand began the tour on a high, edging out Bangladesh by 26 runs in Mirpur, but the home team bounced back convincingly in the second ODI. They bowled out the Black Caps for 198, a target that Bangladesh chased down with 6 wickets and 87 balls to spare.
This was Bangladesh’s first ODI series win against New Zealand since 2013, having lost five in a row before this. It was also their fourth successive series win at home, having defeated Sri Lanka, West Indies and Pakistan previously.

Bangladesh held onto their ninth place in the men’s team rankings, a spot they claimed after beating Pakistan 2-1 earlier this year. The spot matters for the 2027 ODI World Cup, with the top eight-ranked teams, apart from hosts South Africa and Zimbabwe, gaining automatic qualification for the event. With the Proteas, at No.5, already in the top eight, teams till No.9 in the rankings will get an automatic spot for the World Cup, which is where Bangladesh are currently.
