Bangladesh have overtaken Pakistan in the ICC men's Test team rankings after a 2-0 series victory over them.

Bangladesh whitewash Pakistan 2-0

After winning the first Test by 104 runs, Bangladesh repeated the act in the second, defeating Pakistan by 78 runs to claim the series 2-0. This was their second consecutive whitewash of Pakistan, having also secured a 2-0 victory in a two-match Test series in Pakistan in 2024. Then, Bangladesh had won the two games by 10 and six wickets respectively.

Pakistan began the final day of the second Test needing another 121 runs for victory with just three wickets in hand. With Mohammad Rizwan batting well beyond 50, the visitors would have dared to dream as the day started.

Rizwan and Sajid Khan brought the runs needed down to 79, but when Taijul Islam removed Sajid for 28, the floodgates opened. Rizwan fell for 94 in the very next over, off the bowling of Shoriful Islam, and Taijul took just two deliveries in his next over to clean up Khurram Shahzad and hand Bangladesh a famous win.
