Bangladesh completed an ODI series-win over West Indies in Mirpur, after a dramatic super over set-up a series decider. Here's what that result has done to the ICC ODI team rankings.
Bangladesh routed West Indies by 179 runs in the final match, having set 296 on a tricky surface. Openers Saif Hassan and Soumya Sarkar made the pitch look deceptively easy as they put on 176 for the first wicket off 151 balls. That was the only time batting looked remotely easy, however, with the remaining 237 runs scored in the game across both innings coming off 330 balls.
The final five wickets of Bangladesh's innings feel in the space of 6.3 overs, and Akeal Hosein took 4-41 from his 10 overs, including three in the 46th.
West Indies were never in the game with the bat, while the Bangladesh attack shared the spoils between them. They were three wickets down at the end of the opening powerplay, all three falling to Nasum Ahmed. While No.10 Hosein was the top-scorer for West Indies with 27 off 15, before Mehidy Hasan Miraz knocked back his off stump to end the game.
It was a dominant game from Bangladesh, a far cry from the previous game which West Indies won by one run after a super over. The result means little for the ICC ODI team rankings, with both sides holding position. Bangladesh have, however, closed the gap to West Indies above them in ninth.
