Abhishek Sharma has entered the record books by achieving the highest-ever rating in the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings.
Abhishek Sharma becomes highest-rated T20I batter of all time
The 25-year-old opener, who made his T20I debut last year, climbed to an unprecedented 931 rating points, surpassing the previous best of 919 held by England’s Dawid Malan since 2020.
The landmark moment came after Abhishek’s fluent half-century in India’s triumph over Sri Lanka at the Asia Cup. By doing so, he went past not just Malan’s mark but also the peak ratings previously achieved by his own teammates, Suryakumar Yadav (912) and Virat Kohli (909).
Though his rating went down to 926 following his rare failure in the final against Pakistan, Abhishek still sits comfortably ahead of second-placed Phil Salt by 82 points. He was named the Player of the Tournament in the Asia Cup for scoring 314 runs at 44.85. He was also en route to becoming the first batter to eight successive thirty-plus T20I scores, but his dismissal for five against Pakistan means he shares the record of seven with Mohammad Rizwan and Rohit Sharma.

Saim Ayub crowned the new No.1 all-rounder
Pakistan’s Saim Ayub has taken charge of the all-rounder rankings, moving to the top of the ICC T20I all-rounder charts, ending Hardik Pandya’s reign at No.1.
Ayub’s consistent contributions with the ball were the highlight of his Asia Cup campaign, where he picked up eight wickets. His performances pushed him up four places, allowing him to leapfrog Pandya and claim the top spot. The margin, however, remains narrow, with Pandya now just eight points behind in second place. Ayub did not have the greatest outing with the bat, though, scoring four ducks in seven matches.
Pakistan’s Mohammad Nawaz (up to 13th) and Sri Lanka’s Charith Asalanka (now equal 30th) also benefited from their Asia Cup efforts, moving higher in the all-rounder rankings.
Tilak Varma retained third place among batters with 213 runs, while Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka rose two places to fifth after scoring 261 runs. Kusal Perera jumped two places as well, to ninth, while Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan surged 11 spots to 13th.
In the bowling charts, India’s Varun Chakravarthy strengthened his grip as the world’s No.1 T20I bowler with seven wickets at the tournament. Kuldeep Yadav made the biggest move for India, climbing nine places to 12th, while Shaheen Afridi rose 12 spots to equal 13th. Bangladesh’s Rishad Hossain also made progress, breaking into the top 20 for the first time.
