Pakistan's Sadia Iqbal has ascended to the top of the ICC Women's T20I bowlers' rankings, replacing England’s Sophie Ecclestone.
ICC bowling rankings: Sadiq Iqbal displaces Sophie Ecclestone
Iqbal moved up one spot to reclaim the No.1 ranking, a spot she had first reached during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup last year. The slow left-arm orthodox bowler has played 47 T20Is, picking up 59 wickets at an average of 17.52. She is yet to play a T20I this year, but had a sensational year in 2024, when she picked up 30 wickets in 19 games, ending with an average of 14.30. She was also the joint-highest wicket-taker from a Full Member country in 2024, along with India’s Deepti Sharma.
Ecclestone, who did not feature in England’s recent T20I series against the West Indies after head coach Charlotte Edwards confirmed she was “physically not quite at 100%” after sustaining a knee injury during the Women’s Premier League, dropped three spots to fourth. Deepti and Annabel Sutherland benefited, as a result, by climbing up to No.2 and No.3, respectively.
The other notable movers were Lauren Bell, who climbed 13 spots to reach sixth after finishing the West Indies series with seven wickets. Linsey Smith advanced 37 places to 41st, and Issy Wong moved up 32 places to joint 62nd following their contributions in the same series.
Hayley Matthews achieves career-best
In the T20I batting rankings, West Indies captain Matthews rose two spots to second. Matthews scored 177 runs at an average of 88.50 across three matches in England, and now has 765 rating points, her best achievement. She is now 29 points from Australia’s Beth Mooney, while Tahlia McGrath, who slipped to third due to Matthews' gain, has 757 points.
Matthews also extended her lead at the top of the T20I all-rounder rankings, having taken three wickets in addition to her runs during the England tour.
Among England batters, Nat Sciver-Brunt moved up five places to ninth, while Heather Knight improved seven positions to joint 17th, and Sophia Dunkley rose eight spots to joint 29th after scoring 108 runs in the three-match series.
The only Indian in the top ten batting charts is Smriti Mandhana, who, with 753 points, is at No.4.
