India came back on track in T20Is with a 3-0 series victory against Zimbabwe. Here are their series ratings after the whitewash.
After seven matches which went nothing as planned for India, Shreyas Iyer & Co. inflicted a series whitewash against Zimbabwe. The visitors sealed victory in the third T20I in Harare to seal the three-match T20I series 3-0. Here are the player ratings for the series.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi - 9
Three innings, 151 runs at 50.33, HS: 81, SR: 196.10
Sooryavanshi had accumulated 42 runs in three innings in England earlier this month. Here, he made amends with 151 runs in three innings against Zimbabwe with a highest score of 81 in the third T20I. In the process, he became the first to score two men’s international fifties before his 16th birthday.
Abhishek Sharma - 4
Three innings, 11 runs at 3.67, HS: 8, SR: 55 | Three wickets at 7.67, BBI: 3-17, Econ: 7.24
While Sooryavanshi was firing on all cylinders from the other end, his opening partner couldn’t really put his foot on the pedal. Abhishek, known for dazzling shot-making, struggled in all three games. However, he did pick up three wickets with his left-arm spin.
Ishan Kishan - 8
Three innings, 145 runs at 48.33, HS: 81, SR: 154.25
Ishan Kishan showcased consistent performances at No.3, the highlight being a 44-ball 81 in the second T20I when he resurrected India’s innings with nine fours and two sixes. After being reduced to 19-2, it was Kishan’s knock which took India past 200.
Shreyas Iyer - 5
Three innings, 71 runs at 35.50, HS: 28*, SR: 129.09
The Indian skipper got off to starts in all the three T20Is, but could not convert any of them. After taking India over the line in the first T20I, he was dismissed for a 20-ball 25 and an 18-ball 27 in the two subsequent matches.
Tilak Varma - 6
Three innings, 77 runs, no average, HS: 60*, SR: 179.06 | One wicket at 9, BBI: 1-9, Econ: 9.00
Tilak remained unbeaten in all three games, but his 60 not out in the second match stood out. His strike rate in the middle-overs, especially against spin, can do with some improvement.
Rinku Singh - 5.5
Two innings, 37 runs at 18.5, HS: 25, SR: 168.18
Rinku never really failed, playing two rapid death-over cameos in his two outings with the bat.
Shivam Dube - 5
Two innings, 6 runs, no averge SR: 200 | Two wickets at 22.50, BBI: 1-13, Econ: 7.94
Dube did not get many opportunities with the bat or the ball in his two games.
Prince Yadav - 7
4 wickets at 7.25, BBI: 2-10, Econ: 5.43
The India speedster has by far been the best bowler for the side in the three-match series. In the two matches that he played, Prince picked up four wickets before leaving mid-over in the second match.
Yash Thakur - 7
4 wickets at 18.75, BBI: 2-30, Econ: 9.37
Thakur picked up two wickets in each of his appearances, taking his tally to four wickets. Though his economy has been a bit on the higher side, he has provided India with important breakthroughs, the most important being Sikandar Raza.
Ravi Bishnoi - 7
3 wickets at 22.66, BBI: 1-20, Econ: 5.67
Bishnoi has not been at his best in England, but managed to keep the runs in check here. He picked a wicket in each of his three games while keeping the economy rate under control.
Mayank Yadav - 9
5 wickets at 14.20, BBI: 3-28, Econ: 6.55
Mayank struck with his first ball in both the first and third games. He had 2-18 in the first match and added three more to his tally in the third. He seems to be back to his prime.
Ashok Sharma - 5
One wicket at 48, BBI: 1-19, Econ: 6.00
Ashok debuted in the first T20I, but could not scalp a wicket, going for 29 runs off his four overs. However, he got the first taste of success in the third T20I, where he was able to pick up a solitary wicket for 20 runs off his four overs.
Suryansh Shedge - 4
Did not bat, no wicket, Econ: 7.50
The Mumbai and Punjab Kings all-rounder got his maiden opportunity of the series in the third T20I. He did not get to bat, and got only two overs.
