Laura Wolvaardt hit a 47-ball ton in the third T20I against India to equal the world record for the most centuries in women's international cricket.

Wolvaardt maintained her superb form to hit a fifth consecutive 50+ score across formats as she notched up a third T20I century against India. She scored 115 runs off 53 balls, featuring 14 fours and five sixes, as South Africa chased down 193 in Johannesburg to seal the five-match series by taking a 3-0 lead.

Batting first, India were given a strong start by Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma, with the duo adding 68 runs for the opening wicket before the former fell for a 25-ball 37. Verma (64 off 46) went on to complete her 15th T20I fifty, while captain Harmanpreet Kaur (66 off 28) hit her 16th half-century in the format as India posted 192-4.

      In reply, Wolvaardt and Sune Luus took the attack to India, constructing a mammoth 183-run opening partnership. Wolvaardt raced to a 47-ball hundred, the fastest for South Africa women in T20Is, while Luus remained unbeaten on 64 off 42, with the hosts completing the chase in 16.3 overs.

      The South Africa captain’s ton was her 17th across formats, equalling the world-record tallies of Meg Lanning and Mandhana. Wolvaardt now has three hundreds in T20Is, 13 in ODIs and one in Tests. Lanning scored 15 in ODIs and two in T20Is, while Mandhana has two in Tests, 14 in ODIs and one in T20Is.
