On Sunday (September 14), the BCCI announced India's A squad for the upcoming one-dayers against Australia A.

Last week, India announced their squad for the red-ball series against Australia. Those two matches, starting from September 16, will be followed by three one-dayers against the same opponents at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.

The BCCI has announced two squads for the one-dayers; one for the first match, and one for the following two games. This is owing to the start of the series on September 30, coming just two days after the Asia Cup final which India may be involved in.

There had been unconfirmed reports that stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma may be called up for this series, in order to keep their match fitness intact, as they are now active internationally only in the ODI format. However, that has not transpired.

IPL breakout stars receive India A call-ups for Australia series

IPL-winning captain Rajat Patidar has been named skipper for the first match, and will serve as deputy to Tilak Varma for the next two matches. Opener Priyansh Arya, who starred in this year's IPL with 475 runs at a strike rate of nearly 180, has been selected for the first game alone, as has Delhi pacer Simarjeet Singh. In addition to Tilak, Asia Cup squad members Abhishek Sharma, Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh have been named in the squad for the second and third matches.

Left-arm quick Gurjapneet Singh, selected for all three matches, is yet to play List A cricket. Leg-spinning all-rounder Vipraj Nigam has also received a maiden India A call-up despite only five List A matches to his name, after an impressive first IPL season. Hard-hitting Mumbai seam-bowling all-rounder Suryansh Shedge, like Arya, has only played seven matches in the format.
