Fakhar Zaman’s second consecutive ton and a rare wicket helped Pakistan Greens thump Pakistan Gold by 128 runs in the National Champions Cup on Friday, August 14.
Fakhar, opening the innings for Pakistan Greens, scored 115 runs off 105 balls, including seven fours and four sixes, to help his team amass 314. Apart from him, Omair Yousuf (74) and skipper Shadab Khan (61) also helped propel the team's score beyond the 300-run mark. Fakhar's heroics didn’t end there as he also had a rare great day with the ball, dismissing Kamran Ghulam with his left-arm spin to register his first List A wicket in more than four years.
The 36-year-old last picked up a wicket in the Pakistan Cup in March 2022 for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa against Northern Pakistan. He dismissed Haider Ali, helping his team win the match by 29 runs. Overall, Fakhar has 22 wickets in List A cricket in 43 innings, including a five-wicket haul against England Lions in 2016.
As far as the National Champions Cup game is concerned, Fakhar was also a live wire in the field, taking two catches as well to cap off a great all-round outing and was also named the player of the match.
The veteran cricketer has found form at the right time, having already amassed 238 runs in two matches of the tournament so far. He scored 123 runs in the previous game against Pakistan Whites, and also won the player of the match award as his team chased down 277 on the back of his match-winning knock.
When asked about his bowling in the post-match presentation, Fakhar hilariously credited skipper Shadab Khan. “In 2018, Shadab Khan said, 'Whenever I become captain, I will bowl you overs'," he joked. "So, the credit for my bowling goes to Shadab Khan.”

Notably, he also bowled four wicketless overs for 11 runs against Pakistan Whites.
