Wicketkeeper Rohail Nazir hit a century from No.8 during Pakistan Shaheens' three-day match against South Asian Cricket Academy & MCC Young Cricketers XI.
Batting first against South Asian Cricket Academy & MCC Young Cricketers XI in Canterbury, Pakistan Shaheens lost half their side for 147 runs. However, a late resurgence came thanks to Rohail Nazir’s unbeaten century from No.8. He finished day one unbeaten on 98*, before reaching his hundred off 120 balls early on day two, striking 14 fours along the way.
Pakistan Shaheens declared at 385-8 in 92 overs, immediately after Nazir reached his milestone. Omair Bin Yousuf (68) was the other batter to cross fifty-6 while No. 10 Maaz Sadaqat contributed an unbeaten 39 off 48 in a defiant 88-run ninth-wicket stand. For South Asian Cricket Academy & MCC Young Cricketers XI, Hishaam Khan, Sana Khan and Eesa Nadeem picked up two wickets each.
Then, with the ball on day two, the Shaheens continued their dominance. Ubaid Shah, Naseem Shah’s brother, drew first blood by removing Ollie Meadows (8), reducing the hosts to 19-1. Mehran Mumtaz then struck twice, dismissing Max Dunne (26) and Andrew Umeed (30). Ubaid struck again, trapping Feroze Khushi (33) lbw, leaving the hosts at 121-4. The collapse continued as Mubasir Khan removed Hishaam Khan (0), and soon after, Stuart van der Merwe fell for 41, making it 157-6. The hosts ended the day at 183-6, still trailing by 202 runs.

Who is Rohail Nazir?
Nazir captained Pakistan during their 2020 Under-19 World Cup campaign. His only half-century – a 102-ball 62 – came against arch-rivals India in the semi-final, though it ended in a losing cause as Yashasvi Jaiswal’s unbeaten 105 guided India to a 10-wicket victory.
Nazir then made his senior international debut during the 2023 Asian Games, which was played in the T20I format. He was the side’s designated wicketkeeper, scoring 23 runs at an average of 11.50 and a strike rate of 100 across the two innings he batted. Pakistan reached the bronze medal match against Bangladesh but lost by six wickets.
Nazir is currently part of the Pakistan Shaheens squad touring UK. They have already played three one-day and one three-day games, with the ongoing match against the South Asian Cricket Academy & MCC Young Cricketers XI being the last of the tour. Left-handed batter Saud Shakeel is leading the Shaheens.
