The two-week tournament in England is set to come to an end on Saturday with the top two teams from the group stage meeting in the summit clash. Pakistan won four of their five games, with the last one a no-result after India boycotted the match due to political tensions between the two countries. They topped the table, with South Africa second after four wins and one loss.
Pakistan were set to meet India in the semi-final, but as they did in the group stage, India withdrew from that match as well. As a result, Pakistan were awarded the game and advanced to the final.
South Africa, meanwhile, took on Australia in what proved to be a nail-biter. After they scored 186-8 batting first, they needed to defend three runs off the final ball to win. Skipper AB de Villiers helped seal the victory with a superb throw from the boundary to effect a run out and send South Africa through.
