Mushfiqur Rahim scored his 14th Test hundred against Pakistan, and now outrightly leads the list of most tons scored for Bangladesh in the format. Here’s the list of batters with the most hundreds for their respective national sides.

India - Sachin Tendulkar (51)

Tendulkar played the most Tests (200), scored the most runs and hit the maximum number of hundreds in the format in a career spanning 24 years. His record 15,921 Test runs came at an average of a whopping 53.78. He also scored 68 fifties. Before him, Sunil Gavaskar held the record for the most hundreds for India with 34 tons.

South Africa - Jacques Kallis (45)

Kallis has the second-most Test hundreds after Tendulkar, and is one of the only four batters to have 40 or more tons in the format. He also hit 58 fifties. What sets him apart from others on this list is that he also picked up 292 Test wickets. Hashim Amla has the second-most hundreds for South Africa with 28.

Australia - Ricky Ponting (41)

Ponting is currently joint-third on the list of the most Test tons scored, but could move down to fourth soon, with Joe Root breathing down his neck. In a 17-year-long Test career, Ponting scored 13,378 runs at 51.85, also hitting 41 hundreds and 62 fifties, for Australia while also leading them to 48 wins in 77 Tests captained. Steve Smith has the second-most hundreds for Australia at 37, and he could topple Ponting from the spot as well.

England - Joe Root (41)

Root has worked his way up the table quite rapidly, hitting 24 tons in the format since 2021 and leaving Alistair Cook (33) far behind to become England’s top hundred-scorer. He can also realistically beat Tendulkar’s record for the most Test runs and tons if he continues in the same vein for another two to three years.

Sri Lanka - Kumar Sangakkara (38)

Leading Sri Lanka for the most Test hundreds is Sangakkara with 38, four more than his former teammate and fellow Lanka legend Mahela Jayawardene. In 134 Tests, he southpaw scored 12,400 runs at 57.40, the most for batters with at least 10,000 runs in the format, and only less than Don Bradman, Ken Barrington, Wally Hammond and Garry Sobers for those with more than 5000 runs.

Pakistan - Younis Khan (34)

Eighth on the overall Test hundreds list, with Steve Smith and Rahul Dravid sitting sixth and seventh, Younis leads the way for Pakistan with 34 Test hundreds. Khan notably has the most fourth-innings Test hundreds with five, along with Kane Williamson, and has more hundreds than fifties in the format (33). He has nine more hundreds for Pakistan than the second-placed Inzamam-ul-Haq, who scored 25.

West Indies - Brian Lara (34)

Lara leads the way for the West Indies, with Shivnarine Chanderpaul a close second with 30 Test tons. Lara, who scored 11.953 runs at 52.88, also holds the record for the highest Test score with a 400* against England. He is joint-eighth on the overall list alongside Gavaskar and Jayawardene. Sobers has the third-most Test tons for West Indies with 26.

New Zealand - Kane Williamson (33)

Williamson, with 33, is joint 12th on the overall list alongside Alistair Cook. He leads the New Zealand list by a huge margin as Ross Taylor is a distant second with 19 Test tons. Williamson’s 9461 runs have come at 54.68, and also include 38 fifties.

Bangladesh - Mushfiqur Rahim (14)

Mushfiqur took the outright lead in the list for Bangladesh with a 137 in the ongoing Sylhet Test against Pakistan. He had joined Mominul Haque at the top with a ton against Ireland in November 2025 and now has gone past him. He also recently became the first Bangladesh player to have played 100 Tests.

Zimbabwe - Andy Flower (12)

Flower holds the Zimbabwe record for the most Test hundreds scored with 12, six more than the three batters who are joint-second – Sean Williams, Brendan Taylor and Andy’s brother Grant Flower. The former wicketkeeper-batter, who is now the RCB head coach, also has by far the most Test runs scored for Zimbabwe with 4794.

Afghanistan - Rahmat Shah (three)

Rahmat has scored the most Test hundreds for Afghanistan, with a ton against Bangladesh and two against Zimbabwe, including a 234 at Bulawayo. He is one of the only six batters with a Test ton for Afghanistan alongside Hashmatullah Shahidi (2), Afsar Zazai, Asghar Afghan, Ibrahim Zadran and Ismat Alam (one each).

Ireland - Curtis Campher, Kevin O’Brien, Paul Stirling, Lorcan Tucker (one each)

Four batters hold the joint record for the most Test hundreds for Ireland. Campher and Stirling scored their respective tons against Sri Lanka at Galle in 2023, while Tucker scored his against Bangladesh the same year. O’Brien was the first to score a Test hundred for Ireland, scoring one against Pakistan in 2018.
