Scotland have had their share of wins against Full Members in recent months. Can that, combined with their familiarity with the conditions, help them secure a maiden win?
In the 2024 T20 World Cup, Scotland had restricted Bangladesh to 119-7 and had the West Indies at 59-4, but couldn't go on to secure a win. Since then, their head-to-head in women’s T20Is reads a very impressive 16-5 including 3-2 against Full Members.
Scotland finished third in the Super Sixes of the 2026 Qualifiers: the only teams above them, Bangladesh and Ireland, are Full Members. Then, they beat both Bangladesh and the Netherlands (twice) to win the Tri-Nation tournament at home. Scotland also beat Zimbabwe the only time the sides have ever met (at the Qualifier). Their head-to-head against Ireland reads 6-9.

‘Home’ advantage
The Scots come with an advantage matched by no other side barring the hosts: most of their 15 members plays domestic cricket in England. The Bryce sisters, the superstars of the side, play alongside Kirstie Gordon at the Blaze. Olivia Bell, Darcey Carter, and Alisa Lister are at Lancashire. And so on ... the list is long.

The potential stars
The leading run-scorer and second-highest wicket-take for her nation, Kathryn Bryce will be at the heart of Scotland’s journey in her second T20 World Cup as captain. Fewer than 200 runs behind her on the all-time list is her sister, wicketkeeper Sarah Bryce. Essex leg-spinner Abtaha Maqsood and Surrey all-rounder Priyanaz Chatterji add to the team’s strength. When she takes field, Kirstie Gordon will become the first woman to represent two sides at the tournament: she represented England in the 2018 final.
With a focus on youth, Scotland also included three members of the 2025 Women’s U19 World Cup squad – Gabriella Fontenla, Pippa Sproul, and Maisie Maceira. Right-arm seamer Maceira took eight wickets at 10.50 in the tournament while going at 6.54 an over.
