Mulder got to a half-century off 63 deliveries early on day two before batting partner Wandile Makwetu fell for 89, joining Zubayr Hamza (98) in narrowly missing out on a century. That brought Connor Esterhuizen to the crease alongside Mulder.

With a lead of over 300 runs already secure, the pair stepped on the accelerator. Mulder went from 50 to 100 off just 29 balls, scoring his 15th century in first-class cricket. He was dismissed for 115 off 111.

Meanwhile Esterhuizen put on an incredible display of hitting, taking down Sean Gilson for 6, 6, 4, 6 to make his own century off just 58 balls, the joint-second fastest in first-class cricket on South African soil. The Lions declared immediately afterwards, at 558-5, to begin bowling again.

Mulder came on as first-change after Codi Yusuf and Lutho Sipamla, and got his side's second breakthrough by castling opener Malcolm Nofal. Andile Mokgakane, Kagiso Rapulana, Gilson and Sean Whitehead all also fell to Mulder as the Tuskers were 177-7 by the end of day two.

The South Africa international went wicketless today (day three), but finished with innings figures of 5-39, making it incredible match figures of 12-45 in all, to go with his rapid ton. The Lions went on to win by an innings and 270 runs.

There are 73 instances of a player scoring a century and taking two five-fors in the same first-class match, the most recent ones both coming in England in the space of a few days.Mulder's performance is the 11th such instance in the 21st century, and the second in South Africa after Kelly Smuts (108, 7-36, 6-35) for Eastern Province against Boland in 2015/16.

George Hirst's 111 & 117* and 6-70 & 5-45 for Yorkshire against Somerset in 1906 remains the only recorded instance of a player scoring two centuries and claiming two five-fors in a single first-class match.
